Chemise: Calvin Klein Jeans, lace (worn as scarf): Carolina's, toga: a graduation toga!, trousers: Maison Martin Margiela
Remember my Pourquoi entry? Days ago while I was going through my files, I fortunately found some better shots (meaning a better visibility of the ensemble I've put that one night) of what I wore while I was struck by the narcissism bug in the comfort of my own room. (Alors, posing after activating the self-timer of my Nikon D70s is tiring. I guess I should find a remote control for it!)
As much as it is inevitable to talk about how bad the economy is, I do believe that there is a certain renewed consciousness towards consumer practices particulary with clothes like what is being discussed in TFS and the cover text of Arena Homme +'s latest issue. As the whole world is worried, I do believe that the issue of recession would not hit me big time as I do not believe drastic changes would confront me as I've always lived my fashion-obsessed life on a budget. In my world there is seemingly that blurry possibility of buying designer pieces at full price aka the joy of doing retail and always the price-savvy-ness in me in the the event of making a purchases. It has more often than not been off to the sales racks for me most of the time. While juggling these restraints and my love for fashion, I've also thought of resourcefulness as something to get you by. In that case, I've played around with scraps of lace I got from a local fabric shop called Carolina's, put on somebody else's graduation toga, and a hint of eyeliner to add a little drama. Also, I was really inspired by an edit from an old issue Arena Homme + with this one. I guess in tough times, what makes more sense is how we are able to cope with our fashion sensibilities and consumer practices with our creativity, resourcefulness, logic, and individuality. Also in tough times, I do believe there is more of a certain growth in making the most of your limited resources over than that in the time of abundance, we more often than not see more people in identical outfits and pieces of clothing. As for the coming days, I do believe that creativity will transcend our difficulties and also enable us to rediscover more interesting things regarding our own personal style.

I love the touch of lace! Very creative and gutsy. Nice bags posted below too :)

The lace is such a simple but effective touch! I share your approach towards the recession...it's on my mind but it won't actually affect me personally...

This is why Imelda moved her money 'off-shore' banks can't be trusted...add a bit of leather and you're a Stevie Nicks song..lol
I'd cut the cape so it fit's more like a bomber jacket and the drama's in the sleeve (and your eyeliner).

Susie: All so true: those thoughts on recession! Escapist notions are always present in my mind...

Imelda Matt: If only I could, I would but I can't! It's the mothership's!! While everyone else is sleeping at home, I rummage through their closets and see what I could borrow and stage a photo shoot by myself! wahahahahaaaaa
Maybe I'll do some deconstruction/reworking of old clothes one of these days... I'll keep ya posted!

New URL. hihi. anyhoo, i do agree with you on the significance of creativity and how much farther it can take us. we don't always have to resort to spending, sometimes all it takes is a little dose of creativity. that's my credo. haha.im into reworking my thrift finds too, i might go into a little photoshoot one of these days. by being creative, we will never run out of looks to pull off no matter how limited our resources and closets are.=)

Money is money, but it is not creativity. While I know it won't I have hopes that a recession will help us realign our thinking on the matter.
